Edward J. Larsen Sr., 88 recently of Toms River, former longtime Matawan resident,  passed away Saturday January 3, 2026 at Community Medical Center of Toms River.

    He was born in Perth Amboy to the late Christian Larsen and Olga (Bartos) Larsen.

    Edward was a highschool graduate and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.

    He was the owner and operator of Larsen's Exxon in Matawan for 22 years from 1968 to 1990.

After owning the gas station for many years he went on to own a craft store Crafts by Lars and briefly owned a bait and tackle shop.

Edward is also predeceased by his brother Robert Larsen of Sewaren and his Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Frank and Cecelia Gregory whom Edward adored.

    He leaves behind his beloved wife Patricia (Gregory) Larsen to whom he was happily married for 63 years; his loving children Greg Larsen of Toms River, Edward J. Larsen Jr. and his wife Danielle of Monroe; his grandchildren Ashley and Amber Larsen of Toms River, Caiden, Brinley, and Addison Larsen of Monroe; and his Sister-in-law Janet of Sewaren.

    Friends and relatives are invited to a Visitation for Edward on Thursday January 8, 2026 3PM - 7PM at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 and again Friday January 9, 2026 9AM at the funeral home for a 10AM funeral home service.

    Following services Edward will be privately cremated.
