Val was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1953, to parents, LaVoy Milo Brunson and Velma Rae (Bennett) Brunson, and passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Val was a kind, caring, and spirited soul. She never met a stranger and gave every bit of herself to everyone around her. She always put others first and was known for her warm hugs and infectious laughter. Val was known to be an avid cultivator of anything, from people to plants. She could turn a troubled person, or a wilting plant into the best version of themselves possible.

Val’s hobbies included reading countless books, drinking coffee every hour of the day, making arts and crafts, and sharing her love with all walks of life, dogs, cats, and all. Val always said her favorite accomplishment was her son, Alan, and him becoming the person he is today.

Val was preceded in death by her parents, LaVoy and Velma Brunson; sister, LaRae Brunson; and her beloved basset hound B.J.

Left to cherish Val’s memory are her husband, Billy Ray Weese; son, Alan Walter, and daughter-in-love, Dixie; daughter, Shawna Hunt, and husband Charles; sister, Darcus Rickman; brothers, Dewey Brunson, and Bill Brunson; grandchildren, Colby Swetman, and Brandon Swetman; dear nieces Carmen McKinney, and Nikole Dibene; and beloved basset hound, Cinda.
