Joaquin A. Dominguez, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.
Born in Cuba on June 15, 1936, Joaquin, known also as Jack to his close friends and family, was a selfless, determined, and hardworking man who was kind to everyone he met.
Joaquin emigrated from Cuba to provide for his family and escape communism. He left with nothing but the clothes on his back and determination and grit to provide a better life for his family.
He was the definition of a self-made man and a true American. Joaquin deeply loved the country he came to and demonstrated his gratitude through a lifetime of hard work and devotion to his family, working as an accountant and comptroller for 30+ years.
An avid outdoorsman, Joaquin found joy in nature and especially loved fishing, hunting, and to tinker, owning every tool imaginable. He also loved spaghetti westerns and never passed up the chance to watch a movie starring Clint Eastwood.
Joaquin’s greatest love was his wife of 62 years, Vivian, who predeceased him by nearly four months. Joaquin is survived by his son Joaquin, Jr., son José and his wife Ena, and his daughter Nina and her husband Marc, as well as his beloved grandchildren Eric, Christina, Michael, Sara, her husband Zack, and Joseph.
As per Joaquin’s request, his remains will be cremated and be rejoined with his wife Vivian. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Fr. Steven Ryan, SDB, Archbishop Shaw High School, 1000 Salesian Lane, Marrero. LA 70072, in Joaquin's name would be appreciated.
