Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Michael Domitrovich “Dimmer”, 61, passed away on January 3, 2026, at Rainy Lake Medical Center, with his son and daughter by his side.
Kenny was born on July 15, 1964, in Butte, Montana, to Frank and Mary (Glenn) Domitrovich. Frank’s career as a Border Patrolman brought the family to the International Falls–Canadian border, where Kenny grew up in Ranier, Minnesota. He attended Falls High School, class of 1984.
From a young age, Kenny had an innate understanding of how mechanical things worked. He could fix just about anything, and he carried a lifelong love for speed. One of his greatest early joys was an antique International pickup truck that he and his dad transformed from a rusty relic into a fully restored collector’s treasure. Whether on a snowmobile, a motorbike, or anything else with an engine, Kenny embraced the thrill of going fast.
Some of his fondest memories were made at the hunting shack in Loman with his dad and many friends. While it’s debatable how much actual hunting took place, there is no doubt that plenty of Bud Light was had and countless stories were born.
Kenny was known for his remarkable work ethic—so strong that it was said he never missed a single day of work. Even in his younger years, no amount of persuasion from friends could convince him to show up late.
Throughout his life, Kenny held a variety of jobs that reflected his mechanical skill and dedication. His first job was at Harry Erickson’s store in Ranier. He later worked at the Rex Service Station, where he became known as “the tire guy” and spent several years at Buildrite before relocating. In Morristown, Minnesota, he continued working in the mechanical field, spending long days in the southern Minnesota cornfields changing tractor tires and restoring farming equipment. He also lived for a time in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where his mother resided, before returning to International Falls in 2006 after her passing.
Kenny lived a simple life. For the past twelve years, he made the Rambler his home and took great pride in helping keep everything running smoothly. In recent years, his favorite possession was his E bike, which he loved to show off and talk about whenever he had the chance.
Kenny lived life on his own terms—fast, honest, and with a wrench in his hand. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories made in garages, hunting shacks , outdoors, and the streets of Ranier. Those who knew him will carry his laughter, his stories, and his steady reliability for the rest of their lives.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Domitrovich.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Domitrovich; daughter, Kati Domitrovich; sisters, Kristine and Cindy; uncle, John Domitrovich; and grandchildren Kylee, Hannah, Braelyn, Lenox, Isabella, and Aubrie. He also leaves behind special friends Patrick Arnold, Lesa Jurek, and June Hell, along with many others who will forever remember his humor, loyalty, and unmistakable presence.
A Celebration of Life for Kenny, will take place on January 31, 2026 at the International Falls VFW, from 1-4 p.m.
