Steve Noble Obituary

Steve Noble was born on February 2, 1967, in Carlton, Georgia to his late parents, Lamar Mattox and Permelia (Noble) Mack. He was later lovingly raised by his late foster parents, Talmadge and Vera Burton Cooper, who nurtured him with unwavering love and care. He entered eternal rest on January 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by a lifetime of love and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Steve lived a life that cannot be measured by job titles or resumés, but by the joy he brought to everyone he encountered. He was a familiar and beloved face throughout Elberton. On any given day, you might have seen Steve lending a helping hand at Phelps Grocery Store, Soap Box Car Wash, Elberton Drug, Elberton Laundromat/Package Store, Hair Q, or simply making his way along the four-lane, proudly waving a wave that only Steve could wave. He also spent many days walking through neighborhoods, making his rounds to visit, check on, and share moments with the people he loved and cherished.

Steve was known for his warm heart, infectious spirit, and unmistakable style. He was especially proud of his police hat and police scanner, and everyone knew he wore them with a confidence that made him unforgettable. Steve had a way of making people smile without saying a word, and his presence alone could brighten even the hardest day.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maggie Mattox Allen; brother, Edward Mack; grandparents Will and Maggie Mattox and Mal and Corene Noble; aunts, Lucy Mattox, Mamie Lou Wiley, and Julia Noble; and his uncle, JC Mattox.

He is survived by his loving siblings: Linda (Robert) Allen, Lorraine (Joe) Jackson, James Morrison, Michael (Cassandra) Mattox, Stephanie Mack, Derrick (DeShae) Mattox, Martha (John) Allen, Brenda Teasley, Crystal (Donnell) Hester, and Kim Fortson. He is also survived by his uncles, Leon Noble, Otis Brewer Noble, and Columbus Curry, and his aunts, Harriet Russell and Eva Noble.

Steve leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Tera (Tyrone) Fortson, a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Steve Noble was one of a kind. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain with us always.
