Robert Charles Kubczak Obituary

Robert “Bob” Charles Kubczak

January 31, 1943 - January 03, 2026

Robert Charles Kubczak, age 82 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Robert “Bob” was born on January 31, 1943 in Saginaw, MI to the late Alphonse and Josephine (Toth) Kubczak. Bob attended St Mary Cathedral High School and graduated in 1961. Bob was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, until recently moving to Midland. Following high school he worked at General Motors as a Millwright for 32 years, retiring in 1993. That same year he started a second career as a High School Sports Official, where he developed lasting relationships with many athletes and their families throughout the Saginaw area. Bob was an avid bowler and golfer. In 2014, he was inducted into the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame joining his brother Jim and father Al “Peanuts” Kubczak. That same year Bob proudly recorded a “hole in one” while golfing. Bob had a rare gift for making everyone he met feel at home - whether friend or stranger. He welcomed all with an open heart, this kindness remains his greatest legacy. Bobs warm smile, gentle spirit and genuine compassion touched the lives of all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gail Kubczak whom he married in 1991; son Kenny (fiancé Becky Smutek) Kubczak, daughter Lisa (Andy) Sherman, son Joe (Angie) Brewster, and daughter Wendy (Jim) Matzke. He also leaves a special “daughter in law” Tina Compty, nephew David Kubczak and sister in law Jan Kubczak. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Jim Kubczak, and two sons Kevin and Kelly Kubczak.

Bob was a proud and loving grandfather to Cassie DeShone, Brandon (Emilee) Erickson, Samantha (Jon) Chapman, Elizabeth (Jared) VanOeffelen, Nicholas (Victoria) Brewster, Payton, Makenna, Bryn & Adelynn Matzke, Braylon, Emmersun, Jacek Kubczak, Madison (Joel) Morley & Jordan Kubczak. Also leaving many great-grandchildren that he adored as well, with 2 more on the way.

Special thanks to First State Hospice, Shena RN, Viola Chaplain and Nikki HHA for the excellent care and compassion shown to Bob.
