Lynda Jo Workman Dean, 70, of Elkton passed away January 3, 2026 at Sentara RMH. Mrs. Dean was born October 1, 1955 in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Philip “Smokey” and Virginia Ann Baugher Workman.
Mrs. Dean was employed as a seamstress for Wrangler/Blue Bell in Elkton and Marshalls in Bridgewater for many years and also had worked at Mick or Mack in Elkton. Mrs. Dean attended Elkton Evangelical Church. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1973. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and wreaths to place on family members and friends gravesites. She also made jewelry for years, and enjoyed cooking, ceramics, crafts and was a classic old car enthusiast. She loved her cats and was known as the “crazy cat lady”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Charlie Gray; sister-in-law, Cheryl Dean.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her husband, Jeff Dean; son, Adam Workman and wife, Tabitha; grandchildren, Grayson and Dustin Workman; brothers, Phillip (Rick) Workman and wife, Debbie, Jeff Workman and wife, Donna; sister, Sharon Workman Gray; nieces and nephews, Courtney, Liz, Samantha, Jacqueline, Kathryne, Charlie, Alex, Deana, Dustin; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Run Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the funeral home.
