Brenda Ann Respess Obituary
Brenda A. Respess, affectionately known as “Da Mom,” passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 81, in Smithfield, Virginia.
Born on January 23, 1944, Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the heart of her family and was known for her warmth, strength, and unconditional love. Her home was a place of comfort and laughter, and she made everyone feel welcome. Brenda’s greatest joy was her family, and her legacy of love will live on through them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel McCoy Harris and Lankford Harris, and her grandson, Jerry Lee Keeter III.
She is survived by her children, Scott Respess; Robin Hormuth and husband Jerry; and David Respess. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Destiny Respess, Shaun Respess and wife Willow, Kristin Respess, Brandon Respess, Matthew Moore, Gabrielle Kohn and husband Todd, and Vanessa Georgetti and husband David; and her great-grandchildren, Jerry Keeter IV, Cameron Nguyen, Joanie Kohn, Jensen Kohn, and Phoenix Respess.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2025 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
