Gloria Marion Long of Thompson Manitoba passed away on November 12, 2025 at the age of 81 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hardisty, Alberta on January 9th 1944 to Michael and Ruth Flaman. Gloria was the sixth child in a family of seven Growing up in Lloydminister, Saskatchewan.

Growing up mom was into track and field and if she thought you did not believe her, she would bring out her long jump records.

Gloria met Merv in Lloydminister, Saskatchewan the love of her life, they embarked on a journey to BC and Alberta and they finally settled in Thompson in the mid 60s and began building a life. Together they raised two sons Steven and Gregory.

Gloria was known for her detail to facts and had a remarkable memory. Mom enjoyed watching detective shows, enjoyed listening to Elvis records and was very competitive in board games and did not miss watching jeopardy with Alex Trebec as the host. Mom also enjoyed all types of sports on tv and making small wagers.

She prided herself on a quiet and simple way of living and was at comfort doing it her way, on her own.

Gloria loved birds, painting, writing poems and scrabble was her favourite board game.

Gloria enjoyed the business channel and enjoyed talking business and stocks. She enjoyed time fishing with the family and cabin life for a period of time as well. Watching Hockey night in Canada. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Her strength and determination was amazing …We miss you and will hold you close in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her sons Steve (Samantha) and Greg (Jenny), her grandchildren Nevada (Declan), Parker, Madexx, and Cashton, brothers Clifford “Wayne” and Richard. She is preceded in death by her husband Mervin, her parents Michael and Ruth, brothers Joseph, Roy, Kenneth, and David, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

As per moms wishes she was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arthritis society of Canada in her honour.
