Gerald Fenske, 78, of Worthing, SD, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many who knew him.

Celebration of Life for Gerald Fenske will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Alyssa Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Arlington City Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Osthus/Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel of Arlington, Lake Preston, Oldham.  www.crawfordosthus.com

He was the youngest of 9 children, born to John and Mabel Fenske on November 13, 1947, in Arlington, SD.

He was raised in Arlington and graduated from Hayti High School where he majored in Ag at SDSU in Brookings for 2 years. After college he worked on a construction crew for the oil fields in Wyoming and when he returned, he started farming until 2018, when he retired.

Gerald met Gail Scott in 1996, and they were united in marriage on February 7, 2004, in San Antonio, TX. Together they made their home in Worthing, SD. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He was a longtime member of the South Dakota Trappers Association and attended annual trappers’ conventions. His favorite time of the year was fall, where you could find him deer hunting.

Gerald was a member of Trinity Lutheran in Arlington and West Prairie Lutheran in Lennox, SD.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gail, of Worthing, SD; one son, Matthew and his wife Michelle, of Pasadena, CA; stepdaughter, Tara Stubbe (Jerry); stepson, Erik Scott (Tamela); grandchildren, Max & Miles Fenske; step-grandchildren, Kade Scott, Addison Stubbe, Jacob Stubbe and Delaney Scott.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Beverly Purcell, Lucille Bestge, Delores Bunker, Alice Scott, and 4 brothers; Virgil, Robert, Eugene and Kenneth.
