Melissa Sophia Renea Cowan Ramtahal was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home in Lancaster County, PA. Melissa was the mother of five beautiful children, Brianna Cowan, Arianna Matthews, Janyzia Matthews, and twins, Israel & Isabella Joseph. Melissa was born in San Fernando, Trinidad on July 23, 1986 to Kelly Cowan and Frank Ramtahal, but was raised by her mother & father Bertrand L. Cowan. She was a student at HACC (Lancaster Campus) where she was studying to be a nurse. Those who knew Melissa knew that she was a peace maker and enjoyed seeing family get together and have a good time. In addition to her parents and children, Melissa leaves to mourn her loss, but cherish her memory nine brothers, Ricardo, Kory, Kevin, Kaylon and Keyon Cowan, Anthony, Francis, Dominic and Michael Ramtahal. ; five sisters, Shelly, Nakeisha, Keianna, Kelsey and Krista Cowan; grandparents, Umilta Charter and Ernestine Curtis who is like a grandmother; stepmothers, Elizabeth Cowan and Courtbanya Cowan; the Taylor, Charter, Ramtahal and Cowan Families and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 9-11AM at Brightside Baptist Church, 515 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA and A Celebration of Life Service will follow immediately at 11AM with Pastor Louis A. Butcher, officiating. Burial will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster.
