LARRY WAYNE O’NEAL, age 78, passed away on November 12th, 2025, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Born on October 7th, 1947, in McMinnville, Tennessee, Larry spent his childhood fishing, farming, and working on cars with his father – skills that helped him learn to drive at the remarkable age of twelve. Later, he moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he graduated from North High School in 1965 before continuing on to the Cooper School of Art.

Larry built a distinguished career as an art director, and later found his true calling in education as an assistant professor and department chair of graphic design at the Cleveland Institute of Art. After retiring from CIA, he poured his passion into his own graphic design business, leaving a creative legacy throughout the city he loved.

In his free time, Larry aka the Most Interesting Man in the World, found joy in the simple and soulful parts of life – being in ‘nea-ture’, playing softball, taking cross-country motorcycle trips, listening to bluegrass country music, watching This Old House, and most of all, spending time with his daughters and family.

Larry’s life was a testament to creativity, independence, and heartfelt connection. His stories, his humor, and his unwavering love will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his daughters, Heather Miller (Luke) and Erin Rolf (Jack); his beloved grandson, Declan, who brought him endless joy; the mother of his children, Denise O’Neal, his brother, Darrell O’Neal (Kim), along with many other loving family members and devoted friends. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Eugene O’Neal (Arlene) and Iris Nadeen Cummings.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Larry by supporting students through the Cleveland Institute of Art. Details on how to contribute will be shared soon.
