Carol A. Cummings

August 5th, 1942 – November 12, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Carol Cummings (nee Heslin), who departed from us on November 12, 2025. Carol lived a vibrant and full life, spanning from August 5, 1942, to her final days, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carol was a devoted wife for 57 years to her beloved husband, Peter Cummings, who predeceased her in 2020. Her journey began in Manhattan, where she graduated from St. Jean the Baptist high school. Her path then led her to Rockaway, where fate intervened in the summer of 1961 as she met Peter while working at the A&P. Together, they laid the foundation of their family in Rockaway before transitioning to Long Island, eventually making their cherished home in Rockville Centre.

As a longtime member of the Rockville Centre community, Carol's dedication to her family was unwavering. She lovingly raised five children and, for a significant period, contributed her talents to Kellenberg Memorial High School, serving diligently in both the guidance and athletic departments. Carol's summers were often spent creating joyful memories with her family and countless friends at the Sands and Malibu beach clubs, testament to her vibrant spirit and love for life's simple pleasures.

Carol's enduring legacy is carried on by her five children and their loving spouses: Cathy & Danny Croutier, Peter Kevin & Donna Cummings, Brian & Kelly Cummings, Kerry & Matt Shimaitis, and Elizabeth & Luke Weeks. She was affectionately known as "Mimi" to her sixteen adored grandchildren: Kendall, Sarah, Erin, Nathanael, Liam, Caroline, Maura, Keegan, Courtney, Matthew, Patrick, Bridget, Ryan, Maisie, Rory, and Peter (PJ), each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
