Brenton (Brent) Silverthorn—known affectionately as Spider, Spidey, Captain, Cappy, and as Brenton Leslie Silverthorn III—passed away in 2025, leaving behind a legacy of wit, curiosity, and a life lived entirely on his own terms.
Brent is survived by his mother, Edna Silverthorn, his sister Terri Silverthorn (Kevin Hodgson), and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his father, Earle “Bud” Silverthorn.
Born in Outlook, Saskatchewan, Brent spent his early years between Conquest and Montgomery School in Saskatoon before attending high school at E.D. Feehan. He graduated top of his class in Automotive Mechanics from Kelsey and later earned his Journeyman in Sheet Metal in 2009—an accomplishment he was proud of.
Over the years, Brent worked in a wide range of roles: from Saskatoon’s bar scene to the Innovation Place Greenhouse for Sask Wheat Pool, to many construction and sheet metal projects throughout Saskatchewan. Most recently, he was employed by the RM of Fertile Valley. No matter the job, Brent brought his sharp humour, resourcefulness, and a knack for fixing “just about anything”—even if the final result was, in true Brent fashion, “serviceable partial completion.”
Brent had countless passions that reflected his adventurous spirit. He enjoyed white-water kayaking, Volkswagens and motorcycles, snowboarding, fishing, and collecting unique treasures. He loved festivals like Craven, often attending in his vintage VW bus. He was a proud Riders fan and spent several years playing with the Outlook Old Stocks hockey team.
Brent made his home between Saskatoon and his beloved 7.5-acre acreage “the Ranch” near Ardath, a place where he could tinker, create, and live life freely.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m. at The Longbranch, Ramada Inn, Idylwyld Drive, Saskatoon. This will be a casual gathering, and all who knew Brent are welcome to attend and share memories. Donations in Brent’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
* The Ramada is offering a special room rate for anyone needing overnight accommodations on Saturday and/or Sunday night. Please call the front desk at 306-665-6500 to book.
