Norma Gomez Dasig, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the Andrew Cohen Hospice House, surrounded by family. She was 89.
Born in Manila Philippines, she was the second eldest of seven children and a lifelong advocate for education. After earning her degree in Dentistry from Far Eastern University, Norma moved to New York City. She worked in major companies such as Boise Cascade and Safeway Inc. Norma believed in hard work and did not retire until she was 84 years old because she loved her work family.
Norma married Luis Banez in 1963. They had three children, Louis, Allen and Patricia. They moved to New Jersey then settled in California. Norma was dedicated to her children and worked two jobs for several years in order to send them to college. Her main passion was gardening. She had over 15 fruit trees in her Manteca home. All of her family and friends enjoyed the fruits and vegetables from her yard for many decades. Her flower garden was the most colorful in the neighborhood.
In addition, she was a world traveler going all over the United States, Europe, Central America, South America and Asia. Her favorite trips were on Princess cruises.
She is survived by her three children, Louis, Allen and Patricia, her grandson Jack and sister Virginia Dasig.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Fry Chapel in Tracy, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Norma’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she enriched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warm and loving personality.
