It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Melanie Dru (Baumgardner) Latimer, 62, of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada. Melanie passed away early Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025.
Born August 8, 1963, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Quinter D. Baumgardner and Bonnie D. (Perviance) Baumgardner.
Melanie graduated from Wilson College, Chambersburg, in 1985 with a business degree. After graduating she worked at several banks in the Chambersburg area as a loan officer before meeting her future husband, Hugh. Melanie and Hugh moved to Toronto and later, to Nova Scotia where they raised their four children, Rachel, Noah, Grace, and Hudson. Raising her children was the great joy of her life.
Friends and family will remember Melanie for her sharp wit and love of fellowship and conversation. Her infectious laughter could brighten the day of anyone fortunate enough to hear it. Melanie was an avid fitness enthusiast and loved the outdoors. She had a special affinity for all animals and loved spending time with her beloved cats and dog.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; brother, Michael; and beloved son, Noah.
Melanie is survived by her children, Rachel, Grace, and Hudson Latimer; her siblings, Marsha (Baumgardner) Palmer, Meg (Baumgardner) Phelps, Mark Baumgardner, and Lisa (Baumgardner) Marshall; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the wonderful care she received at Moody Hall, Shannex and to Sharon, her caregiver and friend for the past several years.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on a future date.
