Michael Jerome Fanelli Obituary

Michael Jerome Fanelli, age 82 of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025 with his wife of 44 years, Dawn, by his side. Michael was born Jerome DeVein in Brussels, Belgium to Katherine (Brickman) and Phillippe DeVein. After his father passed away, Michael and his mother moved to the United States where she later married Michael Fanelli and he adopted young Jerry who took his name.

Michael was a jack of all trades and excelled at most. A master carpenter, he built 3 beautiful homes, but was known for his furniture and intricate designs. He loved karate for all of it’s forms and stances but hated the competitive matches needed to progress.

When the Fanelli’s bought their farm in Sevier County 31 years ago, they raised goats and their beloved mules. It was with a heavy heart that Michael had to part with his mule, Annabelle, because he could no longer care for her. He was at peace knowing she had found a new home where she is loved.

Michael is survived by his wife, Dawn and daughter, Joy Pilla (Ronald Zein) and granddaughter, Lyndsey Pilla. He also has a sister, Monica Bendyna and niece and nephew, Cheri and James Bendyna and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank Roxanne and all of the other nurses at UT Hospice for their comfort and care. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
