Dominga “Nena” Martínez, 89,
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in the early morning hours, our "Ma" went to meet her Creator. Peacefully, gracefully, and surrounded by love. Though our hearts ache with the weight of her absence, there is a deep and gentle peace in knowing that heaven welcomed her with open arms.
She was born in Laredo, Texas to Anselmo and Zulema Hernández.
Nena married Luis Martinez in Laredo, Texas in 1957. They had 5 children, Sylvia, Joe, Ramiro, Mike and Angie. They enjoyed 61 years together.
Our dearest "Ma" was truly one of a kind. Her personality was unique, her heart was pure, and her love was rare. She had a kindness that radiated through everything she did, always putting others before herself without hesitation. Ma was selfless, gentle, and strong all at once. A beautiful soul who made everyone around her feel loved and cared for. She was the heart of our family. strong, kind, and endlessly generous.
Nena had an extraordinary gift for warmth, kindness, empathy, compassion, and thoughtfulness toward all that she met. She loved her family unconditionally and found her greatest joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always excited to visit with them and hear about their lives, goals and achievements.
Whether it was her warm hugs, her stories from years past, or the way she made everyone feel at home, she left a mark on everyone who knew her. She found joy in simple things. In her garden, her flowers, and her yard. She took pride in every detail, always so particular and careful, making sure everything was just right. thoughtful and precise, yet warm and full of life. But beyond all her wonderful qualities, Ma's faith was the truest reflection of her heart. Her love for Jesus was deep and unwavering. She carried her faith with grace and lived it every single day through her kindness, her patience, and her compassion for others. Her relationship with God was her foundation, and she showed us what it truly means to trust in Him, even through life's hardest moments.
We will always remember her laughter especially during the movie Home Alone, the smell of her cooking, the sound of her rolling out her homemade flour tortillas will forever be engraved in our memory, and the quiet wisdom in her advice. The memories are endless, and they live on in our heart forever. Losing her has left an emptiness that cannot be filled, but we are grateful for the love and lessons she gave us.
While she is no longer here with us, her spirit will always be a part of who we are. Her love continues to guide us, her faith continues to inspire us, and her memory will forever be our comfort.
Nena is survived by her children, Joe Martinez, Ramiro Martinez, Mike Martinez, Angie Martinez (Shawn Roland), all from Twin Falls, Idaho, and son-in-law Jim Leitch of Buhl, Idaho; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild (with one more expected in April) and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luis, daughter Sylvia, son Edward; and her 2 sisters.
There are no funeral services per her request. A Celebration of Life is to be scheduled at a later date.
