Cheri Rose Core, 77, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on November 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Born on January 17, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Betty and Lester King, Cheri grew up surrounded by family, love, and Midwestern warmth. She graduated high school in 1967 and went on to build a life defined by joy, love, and creativity.
Cheri married Jay Birt in Indiana, and together they welcomed two daughters, Amber and Nicole. In 1995, she married Gary Core in Arizona, where they created a beautiful life together. Cheri embraced every chapter of her life with a sense of adventure, she skydived, danced whenever music played, and treasured opportunities to travel.
She enjoyed swimming, making jewelry, embroidery, and cooking, often sharing her creations and hobbies with the people she loved. Cheri believed deeply in finding beauty and meaning in everyday life. As she once said, “I think that life is beautiful, it’s a challenge, it’s an adventure. I think you make your own life, you make your own happiness and sadness and anger. You have to let go and become a happier person.” She also found joy in nature and cherished time spent with loved ones, saying simply, “I love life, I love nature, and I love hanging out with family.”
Cheri is survived by her husband, Gary; her daughters, Amber and Nicole; her grandchildren, Kayla, Nick, Delaney, Marty, Addison, and Paige; and her great-grandchildren, Arabella, Hazley, Ellie, and Nevaeh. Her step sons, John and Louis; her grandchildren, Racheal, David, Sarah, Alyssa, and Joshua. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Lester, and her brother, David. Her legacy of love, and adventure will live on in all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on November 22, 2025, followed by a funeral service from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., both at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary.
