James "Jim" East Obituary

James C. East (Jim), 57 of Millville passed away unexpectedly on 11/12/2025 after a brief illness.

Jim was born on 9/2/1968 in Atlantic City, NJ, the son of Raymond and Janice East. He was a graduate of Egg Harbor Township High School and went on to earn a trade certificate in cabinetry and building maintenance from Atlantic County Vo-Tech. Jim then worked for the NJ Carpenters Local 1578 working side by side with his father and brother. After that he made the move to work for himself doing what he loved which consisted of carpentry, custom wood work, and general contracting. In 1996 he got employed at the Richard Stockton College of NJ, where he worked for 28 years as a senior repairman and thus retired in 2024.

In addition to his professional accomplishments Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, superior marksman, master carpenter, and above all else he had a boundless affection for dogs. Jim loved the outdoors, spending time with his family, and designing quality hand-made woodwork varying all the way from artistic cutting boards to complete detailed matching furniture sets in his spare time.

Jim is survived by his son James, his daughter Marianne, his brother Raymond, his sister Valerie, and his grandson Alex. He is also survived by his former wife Monika and his faithful dog and companion Abbey, along with multiple Aunts, Uncles, nieces, his nephew and his many cousins.

A visitation service will be held on November 22nd from 12pm to 2pm, at Wimberg Funeral Home (400 Liverpool Ave, Egg Harbor City NJ 08215). For all who have had the opportunity to build a relationship and create memories with Jim, please feel free to stop in and join us in remembering him and everything he has done in an attempt to make this world a better place.

Jim will always be remembered for his unrelenting kindness, his generosity, and his selflessness. He was always the first to volunteer and devote his time to anyone in need even if it wasn’t the best set of circumstances for himself. The world will never be the same without him and his legacy will live on for generations to come. We love you Jimmy/Dad, thank you for everything you taught us, you will never be forgotten.
