Rita R. Garcia, age 83, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born on October 5, 1942, in Benavides, Texas, to Domingo Rodriguez Sr. and Elvira G. Rodriguez. Raised in Benavides and later residing in Corpus Christi, Rita lived a life full of love, faith, and generosity.
She graduated from Benavides High School in 1961 and went on to earn her beautician license in 1963. Rita’s passions included traveling, cooking, barbecuing, and the occasional trips to the casino. She found joy in watching her favorite shows, Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons, and delighted in hosting gatherings where she made everyone feel welcome.
Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard R. Garcia; her mother, Elvira G. Rodriguez; and her son, Chris R. Garcia. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
She is survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Martha Ann Garcia, who was her constant companion and caregiver; her brother, Domingo Rodriguez Jr. (Mary Alice); and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her wisdom and warmth. Rita is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Rennah Celest Garcia, Christofer Richard Garcia, Mia Cassandra Garcia, and Miguel Mendez, as well as her great-grandchild, Isaiah Daniel Arciniega, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Rita’s kind spirit, strong faith, and unwavering love for family and friends will forever be remembered. Her legacy of strength and generosity lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
