ARNAUDVILLE ~ Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Rita “Sis” Marks whom passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, with her final days and hours surrounded by her beloved family and friends.
Rita was a beautiful soul who lived life entirely on her own terms; she was beautiful, sharp, and unapologetically herself. She could light up any room with a joke, a story, or that perfectly timed eye roll. She welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness, never putting herself above others. If she loved you, you knew it. She had a gift for turning simple moments into something special, and she made life brighter for everyone around her.
She spent many years with LHC Group, where she built friendships that lasted a lifetime. They shared more than work—endless laughs, inside jokes, and the kind of good times that turned ordinary days into stories worth retelling. Her coworkers adored her and showed up for her in every way—visiting, cheering her on, and celebrating her life with laughter, thoughtful gifts, and unwavering support.
Rita is survived by her mother, Joy Rita Dautreuil Marks; her brothers and their spouse/partner Jason & LeeAnn, James, Elridge “Te-nu-nu” & Tammy, and George Marks & Lisa DiStefano; her sister, Roxanna Marks; her niece, Jessica Drysdale, with whom she shared an especially close bond; her coworker and dear friend, Tommie Gisclaire and her family; many nieces and nephews; her partner, James Stelly and family; and her beloved furbaby, Pee-Pee.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elridge “Nunu” Marks; and her grandparents, Maurice and Theresa Marks, and George and Ella Dautreuil.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Saturday and will continue until service time on Saturday.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to every family member and friend who offered love and support in any form—whether through a special note, a gift, a visit, a call, or a simple prayer for their beloved Rita.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
