Jack Johnson, aged 83, passed away on November 12, 2025 quietly at home with his wife by his side.

He was born on October 5, 1942 to Jack and Margaret Johnson. He was raised in Donna, Texas and graduated from Donna High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and served for 4 years. Following, he continued his Naval career as an Active Duty Reservist, retiring in 1987 as Captain.

Jack married the love of his life of 62 years, Sheryl Eve Gallaway (Sherrie) on September 4, 1963. He was employed with State Farm Insurance for 35 years, while concurrently serving in the Naval Active Reserves, retiring in 2004.

Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and serving his country with stalwart dedication and honor. He will be remembered for his dedication to his country, devotion to his wife, love of his family, faithfulness in his church, and loyalty to his friends.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret Johnson and his daughter, Andrea Lynn Johnson.

Left to cherish his memories and continue his legacy are his wife, Sherrie (Gallaway) Johnson; daughter, Karen Moorhead (Darrin); granddaughter, Brianne Moorhead; grandson, Daniel Moorhead (Stacey); great grandsons, Lucas Moorhead and Dean Fowler; sister, Debra Ann Hansen; nephew, David Hansen (Audrey) and Dale Hansen (Aliesha); and great nieces and nephews, Paul Hansen, Grace Hansen, and Vanna Hansen, along with countless friends.

The family will have a private graveside service at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Methodist Church, 3151 Reid Dr, CCTX, 78404 or charity of choice.
