David Miles Obituary

David Leslie Miles

March 15, 1953 - November 12, 2025

72 years of age

Peacefully, full of hope and surrounded by his family, David passed at his home in Addington Highlands.

Survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Debbie (nee Jones);

his five children, Brad (Caithe), Jamie (Amanda), Rebekah (Ian), Michelle and Joel;

his seven grandchildren, Noah, Charlotte, Cherokee, Nora, Naomi, Isabelle, and Samuel;

his father, Orton Miles;

his siblings Ernie (Zora), Leslie (Cheryl), Jim (Rose), and Anna (Randy);

his sister in-law Chris Lethbridge (Mark) and his many nieces and nephews.

Influential father figure and mentor to Barry Gervais (Lois Ann) and William Steward (Lorinda) and many others.

Predeceased by his mother, Charlotte Miles, mother in law, Edith Jones, father in law, Al Jones and sister in law, Tammy Jones.

David grew up in Mount Hope, Ontario on his parents dairy farm, Maranatha Farms. Orton and Charlotte’s faith and trust in Jesus helped them raise their children and dig their roots deep to give them what they needed to raise their own families in Christ. David and Debbie married in October of 1975. They started their life together in Townsend as dairy farmers and joyfully welcomed their first son Brad and eight years later were blessed with Jamie. A couple years later, they built their home in Waterford, Ontario. Later on, David took a job transfer to Kingston, Ontario from Nanticoke Air Products. They then sold their Waterford home and moved to their home of over 30 years in Flinton, Ontario. After moving to Flinton, putting their farming and homesteading skills to work, they built a life of country living. During their early Flinton years, David and Debbie were blessed with three more children, Rebekah, Michelle and Joel.

David and Debbie raised their children to live off the land, raise animals and most importantly, to love and trust in their Lord and Saviour.

David loved his little farm in Flinton, annually planting his garden, raising his favourite animal - cows, and tapping maple trees in the sugar bush. All these things done with the help of his family.

In later years, after his retirement from working at Air Products for over 30 years, David ran for Council in his township of Addington Highlands and proceeded to win the election. He enjoyed his time on Council and made many friends and colleagues. In 2019, David was able to fill in as Interim Pastor at Pineview Free Methodist Church and served there until just a couple weeks before he passed. David delighted in each congregation member and always saw each attendee as an opportunity to get to know them and show God’s love.

David was a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He delighted in every aspect of his wife, children and grandchildren’s lives. We are going to miss our six second hugs, our birthday blessings, daily bible readings, car ride sermons, his sense of humour, his always positive attitude and words, unconditional love, his shared smiles, phone and FaceTime calls, always jumping in to any sports game, playing catch with a football and how he always saw potential in everyone.

He shared something personal and special with each of his children and grandchildren, encouraging us and praying with us in our walk with God through every season.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He faithfully followed and was led by the LORD everyday of his life.

Our family wishes to thank the staff at  Lakelands Family Health Team and Pharmacy, Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Ottawa General Hospital, CBI and a special thanks to Dr. Climans and his supportive staff through all these years of our journey.

Our family extends a very special thank you to Dr. Peter Tam, who not only was David’s physician, but a long time, personal friend who has supported our family during and up to the final part of our journey.
