Francis Edward Scott of Denton, Maryland passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He was 79 years old.

Born at home outside of Ridgely on March 31, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward Lee Scott and Margaret Elizabeth Ireland Scott. Francis lived in the rural farming community of Caroline County all of his life. He graduated from North Caroline High School with the class of 1964. Shortly after, he began a lifelong career with the DuPont Corporation in Seaford, Delaware. Known for his dedication, ingenuity, and commitment to excellence, Francis earned numerous awards over his 40 years of service for his innovative ideas and valuable contributions. Though he retired after four decades, his passion for farming never faded- it remained a true calling and source of pride throughout his life.

Francis was blessed with two wonderful sons, Scotty and Kenny. In 1995 he married Dianne Foster, his cherished partner in life and in farming. Together they shared a happy life rooted in hard work and mutual respect.

A man of quiet strength and gentle kindness, Francis found joy in life’s simple pleasures- attending family gatherings, watching purple martins and feeding hummingbirds, relaxing with a favorite TV western, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity, warmth, and special presence touched the lives of all who knew him.

Mr. Scott is survived by his son, Kenny Scott; four grandchildren: Kenny (Tannis), Savannah (Eric), Nichole, and Kodi; two great-grandchildren: Peter and Penelope; two sisters: Doris Harris, and Shirley Dean; Jeff Warrington, brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Foster Scott, son, Francis E. Scott, Jr., and sister, Joyce Warrington.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD. The memorial service will follow at 11AM. Burial will be private.
