Donald "PeeWee" Earl Clevinger Obituary

Donald “PeeWee” Earl Clevinger passed away peacefully on the morning of November 12, 2025 at the age of 79 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.  He was born to Evelyn (Ledbetter) and Leonard “Dutch” Clevinger in Morton, WA on October 11, 1946.

He spent his younger years in Kosmos and later moved to Glenoma, graduating from White Pass High School in 1964.  He served in the US Army in Vietnam and upon his return joined VFW Post 2127 in Morton.  He became post commander, was top district commander for Washington State in 1972, and was awarded a trip to the VFW National Convention in New Orleans.  He was also a lifetime member of the Hogan’s Corner VFW in Ocean Shores.

On May 1, 1971, PeeWee married Karen Taylor and they settled in Morton.  They later divorced in 1991.

PeeWee drove forklift for C & E Lumber and then for Tubafor Mill until his retirement in 2006.  He was also a reserve police officer with the Morton Police Department from 1971 to 1989 and later a reserve with Washington State Fish and Wildlife.

On August 2, 2001 he married Linda Ledgerwood.  He and Linda shared many happy years together spending time at their beach house in Ocean Shores, geocaching (they had over 3000 finds!), attending sporting events, camping, spending time with their golden retrievers and cats, and visiting family and friends.

After retirement he became involved with ASA Northwest Tour racing, Lewis County Civil Service Commission, and the Ocean Shores RC Flyers.  PeeWee enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, and NASCAR, and he especially loved duck hunting with his best friend, Fred Wetzel.  In 2016 he was proud to be honored at a Seahawks game during the Salute to Service Moment.  PeeWee was also chosen to travel to Washington D.C. with the Honor Flight Network in 2023.

Peewee enjoyed taking his first car, a 1930 Ford Model A, on drives around town and attending local car shows.  In September he won the award for “Most Original” at the Morton Historical Society Car Show.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Clevinger; daughter, Melanie Clevinger; step-children, Michael McIntosh, Liz McIntosh, Lishka Taylor, and Heather Bendickson; and 6 step-grandchildren.  PeeWee was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathy Clevinger.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cattermole Funeral Home in Winlock.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
