Terry Glenn Johnson, 76, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2025 at his home in Putnam. He was born in Eastland on September 22, 1949. Terry was the son of Glover and Clydine Ramsey Johnson. 

  Terry lived in Scranton most of his young life where he attended school at Scranton elementary and high school until it consolidated with Putnam where Terry graduated. He then enrolled at Cisco Junior College for a year before he was drafted into the service in 1969. 

While at CJC Terry met the love of his life, Virginia Ann Heard. They married March 27,1971 and then embarked on a lifelong adventure of ranching and raising children. Terry was honorably discharged after boot camp due to an unknown hand injury and quickly found a job doing what he loved…ranching!!  Terry quickly secured a foreman job on a prominent ranch in Callahan county where he stayed many years. During this time Terry and Virginia raised two sons, Brad and Britt. 

Terry took pride in his family and his work. He never knew a stranger. He loved to visit and would give you the “shirt off his back” whether he knew you or not. He was a simple man. He was a hard worker and a good example for his boys. He was a good man a good husband and probably most of all….. a good father. He loved teaching his boys to work,hunt,weld,and most of all…. run cattle and he was very successful at that.   He will be missed. 

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his wife Virginia and an infant son, Buddy,  A sister, Jamie Hendrix of Cross Plains and a brother,  Jimmie Johnson of Ozona, as well as a daughter in law, Julie Johnson of Baird. 

Survivors include two sons Brad and wife Brittany Johnson of Baird and Britt Johnson of Baird; Sister Linda Lampier and husband Donald of Red Oak; Grandsons Cash Johnson of Baird and Gage Johnson of Abilene; sister-in-law Lynn Heard Poe of Novice; niece Christi Brooks of Coleman, nephew Bubba Poe of Albany, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Services will be held at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home in Baird. with visitation 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday November 16, 2025, and memorial service at 10:00 AM Monday, November 17, 2025. There will be a private burial at  Scranton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the Callahan County Sheriff’s Posse.
