Rebecca “Beck” Wood, 80, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 6, 1945, in Clinton, North Carolina, Rebecca was the daughter of the late Stephen Levi and Lizzie (Branch) Street. She dedicated many years of service to Duplin General Hospital, where her kindness and work ethic touched countless lives.

Rebecca had a deep passion for flowers and birds. She spent much of her time outdoors, tending her gardens, and finding joy in watching birds bathe and feed at the many bird feeders she lovingly kept filled. She also enjoyed word search puzzles and following Court TV, always staying sharp and engaged.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Rebecca’s warmth, light, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Lee Naylor and Linda Gail Mitchell.

A private service, in accordance with her wishes, will be held at Grandview Memorial Cemetery in Clinton, North Carolina, on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Jennifer (Owens) Kalnicki, and husband Brian of Jacksonville, NC; her granddaughter, Whitney Leigh Sykes (Matt Todd) of Jacksonville, NC; her great-grandson, Kolton Owen English of Jacksonville, NC; her sister, Kate Dudley, and special nephew, Donnie Ray Dudley, of Clinton, NC; her sisters-in-law, Reba Wood of Wallace, NC, and Charlotte Whiteford of Liberty Lake, WA; along with a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Rebecca’s family and friends will remember her for her kind heart, quiet strength, and the love she so freely gave to everyone around her.
