Darrel L. Kramer, age 74, of Plainfield, Iowa, died Wednesday, November12, 2025, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community.


Darrel was born on March 16, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Treno and Agnes (Linderkamp) Kramer. He was baptized on May 20, 1951 and confirmed on April 11, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville,Iowa. Darrel graduated from Plainfield High School in 1969. He then went to Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa to become a Power Lineman. On June 30, 1973, Darrel was united in marriage to Dixie Ruehs at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clarksville.


He worked at Hoppel Construction from 1969 to 1972 and then as a Power Lineman for Southern Iowa REC and Butler County REC for 38 years, retiring in 2012.


Darrel was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Western Douglas where he served as Deacon and Financial Secretary. He was also a member of Plainfield First Responders and Nashua Plainfield Booster Club. Darrel's greatest enjoyment in life was his family, spending time with them and attending their events, however he also liked fishing in Canada and bow and shotgun deer hunting.


Darrel’s memory is honored by his wife Dixie of Plainfield; three sons, Nathan (Kendra) Kramer of Bettendorf, Iowa, Nicholas (Kelsey) Kramer of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Alex (Allison) Kramer of Moseley, Virginia; six grandchildren, Reese, Sophie, William, Cooper, Evelyn, and Kellen; five brothers; Bruce (Suzie) Kramer of Waverly, Perry (Diane) Kramer of Plainfield, Mike (Teresa) Kramer of Clarksville, Tim (Judi) Kramer of Cedar Falls, and Todd (Christina) Kramer of Waverly. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Douglas Kramer.


Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, at St. John Lutheran Church Western Douglas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
