GREGORY, Janet K. – ​We mourn the passing of a truly great woman, Janet Gregory, of Chesaning, Michigan, who passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at home at the age of 88.

​Janet was born on October 6, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Her parents were, Ernest Bellenbaum and Winifred Shoemaker Bellenbaum. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from Central Michigan University in 1959 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She married her sweetheart, Fredrick Gregory, on June 21, 1958.

​Janet always put her family first. She loved family vacations, hosting family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren. She dedicated her career to education, serving as a school teacher in the Chesaning School District at Big Rock Elementary and Chesaning Middle School before retiring from teaching in 1994. ​She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning, Michigan, where she was active in church activities, including the United Methodist Women (UMW) and Shepherding.
​Janet had a lifelong passion for the works of Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was a true fan of the Little House on the Prairie book series, being incredibly well-versed in all the books. She frequently shared this passion with others, giving presentations on the series, reading the books to her students, and visiting all the locations mentioned in the series in person. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially all of her favorite Detroit teams: The Tigers, The Lions, The Red Wings, and The Pistons, and loved to watch The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. ​She leaves behind a powerful legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion that touched countless lives. The world is dimmer without her light.

• ​Grandchildren: Matt Gregory of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kristin (Jeff) Morgan of Ann Arbor, Alyssa (Eric) Withun of Cadillac, Michigan, Heather Gregory of Ann Arbor, and Jeff Gregory of Chesaning, Michigan.
• ​Great-Granddaughter: Evelyn Morgan.

​Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fredrick Gregory, and her parents, Ernest Bellenbaum and Winifred Shoemaker Bellenbaum.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 pm Saturday, November 22, 2025, a Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Janine Plum officiating. Burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Misiuk Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8:00 pm at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning, and at the church on Saturday from 2:30 pm until time of services at 3:30 pm.
