A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nutley, New Jersey, with interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Newark, Patricia married the love of her life, Nicholas, and together they settled in Belleville, where they have lived for the past 58 years. She was a devoted homemaker while raising her three children, and once they were grown, she worked as the office manager for Dr. Wayne Caputo in Belleville for 30 years.
Patricia was also a 45-year breast cancer survivor, a testament to her quiet strength and perseverance throughout her life.
Patricia was incredibly handy and had a natural talent for home projects and landscaping. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and watching the New York Yankees or the Miami Dolphins. She listened to all kinds of music, especially Alan Jackson; and loved to dance, particularly the jitterbug and the cha-cha-cha. Patricia also enjoyed collecting Lladró porcelain figurines and was a longtime member of the company’s collectors club. Over the years, she built a beautiful collection that filled four curio cabinets in the living room.
A devout Catholic, she was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was a member of the St. Gerard Ladies Society, often attending Mass at St. Lucy’s Church in Newark.
Family was the center of Patricia’s world. Nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by her children and, especially, her beloved grandsons. She loved to bake and was famous for her cheesecakes and cookies, which were always made with love and eagerly enjoyed by all.
After her retirement, Patricia and her husband took time to travel and enjoy life together. They cherished their cruises and treasured their trips to Italy, Alaska, and many other destinations.
Patricia was a beautiful woman inside and out, with a smile that lit up every room she entered. She was caring and genuine, always speaking from the heart with love, humor, and sincerity. She had a way of sharing her thoughts honestly while still making everyone around her feel appreciated and understood. Her warmth, openness, and natural grace were part of what made her truly unforgettable.
She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Pompilio; her mother-in-law, Sue Cardillo; her brother-in-law, Louis "Butch" Miele; and her cherished canine companion, Mike.
Patricia is survived by her beloved husband, Nicholas V. Cardillo; her devoted children, Susan Guarino and her husband, Anthony Sr., Dr. Valerie Cardillo and her fiancé, John Suarez, and Nicholas G. Cardillo; and her treasured grandsons, Alec Guarino and Anthony Guarino Jr. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Lois Miele; MaryAnn Tesoroni and her husband, Henry; and Michael Pompilio and his wife, Laura, along with a host of extended relatives and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s, or Easterseals.
