Kenneth Eugene Arthur, beloved husband of Linda Arthur of Medicine Hat, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the age of 71 years.
Along with his loving wife Linda, Ken leaves to cherish his memory three children, Rhyan (Darran Dick) Arthur, Adam Arthur (Jocelyn) and Nigel Arthur; three grandchildren, Brody Dick, Dylan Dick and Lana Arthur; two brothers, Robert Arthur and Hugh Arthur; his aunt, Shirley Bowler who is 106 years old; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Johnson, Jill Johnson and Melinda Arthur; two brothers-in-law, Brian Johnson and Murray Johnson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joan and William Arthur.
Ken was born on January 31, 1954, to William and Joan Arthur, in Edmonton, Alberta where he was raised. While attending the University of Alberta, he worked part time at a car dealership and fell in love with Honda vehicles. A gifted salesman, Ken sold more Hondas than anyone else in Canada and was offered the opportunity to open a Honda dealership in Medicine Hat. He jumped at this opportunity and opened the dealership in 1977 with the help of his parents. There he met the love of his life Linda through Medicine Hat Musical Theatre. They were married in 1978. In 1980, Ken and his brother Hugh started working on building inventory control software to streamline parts management at the Honda dealership. In 1982, the two brothers realized they had built something special and decided to go into the software business. The dealership was sold and Autostar Compusystems Inc. was born. After years of hard work, sacrifice and perseverance, Autostar became a successful company. Ken retired from Autostar in 1993, but the business is still in operation today. Ken was an active member in the community. He volunteered with Christian Counselling, the food bank and Communities in Bloom. He served on the Catholic School Board and was an active member of the Kiwanis Club.
Ken loved to play cards and his favorite game was Bridge. He was a brilliant player and was a member of a local bridge club. Some of Ken's best memories were made in Orlando, Florida, where he frequently vacationed with his family & friends. He loved to entertain and was known for his "24-hour" slow-cooked roast beef. Ken was a person who loved to laugh, he was always smiling and making some kind of a joke (usually a pun) and his razor sharp wit never failed to draw chuckles from those around him. Of all the amazing things he did in his life, Ken was the most proud of his children and grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant David Townsend officiating.
