Arthur John Garfield Bond Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Arthur (Art) John Garfield Bond announces his passing at home in Long Reach, NB, on November 12, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB on March 25, 1937, He was the son of the late Arthur Garfield Stephenson and Margaret Adelia (Nee Lyons) Bond.

Arthur is survived by his only son, Peter Bond; his younger brother, Robert (Barbara) Bond; Younger sister, Nancy White (Predeceased in death by Cecil); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents Arthur is predeceased by his wife Mary (Nee Mckim); younger brothers, James Bond (Margaurite), and Allan Bond (Helen).

Arthur was educated in local schools in Saint John, NB including the former SJVS Highschool. He loved to work in the garden and around the property, as well he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was always busy in the garage restoring antique cars and trucks (and supervising his son, Peter). Arthur started working at a very young age, such as delivering newspapers, working with his father, Arthur Senior, for Superline oil and then Maple Leaf milling delivering flour. He then worked for Emmerson Brothers, Simms Brush Factory and in the stores department at the General Hospital. Arthur finally found his passion at the New Brunswick Telephone Company, where he worked for 35 plus years until his retirement in 1993.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). A family interment will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to cancer research.

Arthur has been the best father to me, I am sure I have tried his patience many times over the years with dragging home rusty old vehicles to restore. I will miss him dearly. Rest peacefully now father, you are in a better place now, your ever-loving son, Peter.
