Elizabeth R. (Betty) Thill, a resident of Harbor Cove in Port Washington, passed away Wednesday, November 12th, 2025. Though her memory was failing her and she was unable to care for herself, Betty remained kind and appreciative of the care she received there.
The oldest of eight children born to Robert and Blanche (Wester) Thill, Betty attended Holy Cross Catholic Grade School and graduated from Port Washington High School, class of 1963. After working at Wisconsin Electric for several years she earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Marquette University. For over 20 years she assumed administrative roles in the health care industry.
From her youth Betty enjoyed working with her hands. She first learned to crochet from her grandmother and later found relaxation in counted cross stitch, creating countless masterpieces in both crafts and sharing them with family and friends. A passion project of hers was volunteering in the library at St John XXIII, St Mary's campus.
Survivors include her siblings Bob (Pam Slater), Mary (Bob) Bretschneider, Joan (Kim) Steffen, Nancy (Mike “MJ”) Schmit, Tom Thill, Debbie (Dave) Schueller and Lucy (Hal) Janke. She is further survived by 20 nieces and nephews and 43 grand nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Blanche, and sister-in-law Doreen Thill.
A 5:30pm memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held on December 19th at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Rd. B, Belgium, WI 53004 with visitation from 4 to 5:30pm. Father Don Thimm will officiate.
The family wishes to thank each and every staff member of Harbor Cove and Harbor Club for their hard work and dedication to our sister, Betty.
