Betty D. Green 92, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 3:10 P.M. on Wednesday November 12, 2025 at her residence.
She was born May 3, 1933 in Plymouth, Indiana, the daughter of Charles Leroy and Florence Amelia (Kaufman) Rains. On July 1, 1967 in Argos, Indiana, she married Bryan Green Sr. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2015.
Betty worked as forklift operator for Rochester Metals, then left there to work for Topps Manufacturing where she did quality control of garments. She worked there for over twenty years until she retired due to health concerns. She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #852, a former member of the First Baptist Church, Rochester and a member of Connection Pointe, Brownsburg, Indiana. In her younger years she enjoyed fastpitch softball, where she excelled as a pitcher. When she stopped playing softball, she started bowling. She and Bryan Sr. both bowled multiple leagues. She and Bryan enjoyed fishing and camping. They would camp with their kids at Salamonie and later at Plamor with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed playing games with the kids, grand and great grandkids, Carrom and Bunco, her favorites. On Holidays the adults would play a rousing game called Taboo. In the summer she enjoyed outdoor games. She was known in the family and friend circle for her hugs. She gave the best tight hugs even up to the end. She was also known for her cinnamon rolls, drop cookies and zucchini pies.
Survivors include her children, Tom MacLain, Twelve Mile, Indiana, Jan (Denny) Stockberger, Rochester, Indiana, Michelle (Mike) Reinhart, Rochester, Indiana, Corey Wayne (Angela) Green, Argos, Indiana, daughter-in-law, Gwyn Green, Littleton, Colorado, thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, precious sister, Aline MacLain, Plymouth, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, son, Bryan Green Jr., daughter, Louann Green, brothers, Robert Lowell Rains, Donald Rains, David Rains, Charles Rains Jr., Loren Rains, sister, Kathryn Kreighbaum, and great grandchild, Lydia Rose Carpenter. She will be greatly missed.
