Richard Lawrence Poces, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, whose generosity and strength of spirit left an indelible impact on everyone he met, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in Naperville, IL, on November 12, 2025. Born on October 30, 1943, in Chicago, IL, Richard grew up with a warm heart and an open mind, qualities that would define him throughout his life.

Married to Marilyn (nee Baczkiewicz), for 59 remarkable years, Richard's most cherished moments were spent with his wife and their children, Felicia (Gregg) Samuelson and Melissa Poces. He took immense pride in his four grandchildren, Jordan, Samantha, Taylor, and Joshua Poces-Bell His sister, Rita Wodarski, and nephew, Mark Wodarski also survive. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lilli (nee Szafoni) Poces, his brother-in-law, Kenneth Wodarski, and his nephew, Paul Wodarski.

Richard's academic journey began at St. Rita High School and continued at Northern Illinois University. His professional life was marked by a steadfast commitment to service – from his early days working at Blistex to his meaningful interactions as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Richard also took great joy in providing a helping hand to seniors through his driving services at a local municipality, often brightening their days with his kindness and smile.

Richard was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Frankfort. His leisure time was filled with his passion for sports – whether umpiring softball, refereeing volleyball games, cheering on his favorite football teams, or rooting for the Chicago White Sox.

Above all, Richard treasured the times spent with his loved ones. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
