Stephen Ward Griffith, 63, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
He was born in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Haley and Donna Griffith. Stephen was a 1980 graduate of Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he spent 26 years as an aircraft mechanic.
After his military service, Stephen worked locally for Mediacom for 14 years before medically retiring.
Stephen was a man of many passions. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. He also enjoyed fantasy football and fantasy NASCAR, and above all, he found great joy in spending time with his wife, Naomi, and in “making Naomi happy.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi; his sons, Raymond Griffith, Matthew Griffith; his daughter, Melanie Griffith; brothers, Dave Kline (Christine), Jeff Cottengaim (Dera) and Darryl Griffith; sister, Sara; and grandchildren, Madalyn, Emilia, Julian, and Violet.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of Stephen, c/o Naomi Griffith, to help offset the costs of services.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Joe Skiles. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Stephen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
