Sossong, Hilda M., 87 of Portage, passed away on November 12, 2025 in Sidman. She was born on August 2, 1938 in Lilly. Hilda was the daughter of John and Mary (Moyer) Borlie. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter: Myra Kanter (Joel) and her siblings: Ralph, Leo, John, Cletus, Rita Farabaugh (Myron), Irene Gray (Jim) and Frances Borlie.

Hilda is survived by her loving and devoted husband: Thomas Sossong, Sr. and their sons: Mark (Andrea Long), Gerard and Thomas Jr., her grandchildren: Brennan (Kristen), Brittany, Alex (Stephanie), Andrew (Kate), Renold (Nicole) and Rosalie Orlu (Justice) and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Mary Plunkett (George) and Ann Vena (Ronald), her sisters-in-law: Pearl Borlie, Jean Borlie and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hilda was formerly employed in the past and proud to be a bank teller for First National Bank. She loved the great outdoors and enjoyed watching the wildlife, planting flowers, picking berries and going for walks. She looked forward to car rides and taking in the beautiful scenery Pennsylvania has to offer with her husband Tom and her sister Rita, where their rides often ended with ice cream at the Ranger. She and Tom also enjoyed weekend trips with their son Tommy to auctions and flea markets always looking for treasures. Hilda was also known for her famous sauerkraut. She loved making batches for her family and friends and selling it at community events. Hilda was also an amazing seamstress, there wasn’t a thing that she couldn’t mend and patch for her family. She was an active member in her younger days at Holy Name Catholic Church where she loved participating and volunteering for the church festivals.

Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home in Portage. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg, Fr. Brian Warchola. Entombment will be held at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery, New Germany Road, Ebensburg.
