Jacob Franklin Alexander, Jr., 76, of Box Springs, died peacefully at Fellowship Home in Valdosta, GA on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Helen Collins Alexander and Jacob Franklin Alexander, Sr. of Talbotton, GA. He is survived by his two sisters, Joy Hudson of Alpharetta, GA and Joanne Hudson of Columbus, GA and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two daughters, Casey Collins Alexander, Kelly (Mark) Matheny, two grandchildren Maggie and Jake Matheny and Marcia Alexander, the mother of their children all, of Valdosta, GA.


He gained his forestry knowledge in the fields with his dad and at Lake City Community College in Florida. He became owner and operator of J. F. Alexander Timber Sales, Inc. in Talbotton, Georgia after his father’s death. As a teen and young adult his passions were exploring the woods, deer hunting, bird hunting, and skeet shooting which he passed down to his daughters and grandchildren. He was a skilled marksman. As he matured, he enjoyed sitting on his glider and observing the animals at Lake Helen, named after his mother.


Funeral Services will be held at Talbotton United Methodist Church in Talbotton, GA on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 3:30 P. M. with entombment following in Oak Hill Cemetery.


Memorials may be made to Talbotton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 513 Talbotton, GA 31827, for maintenance and upkeep of the church grounds. For many years Mr. Alexander generously maintained the grounds including the area around the fountain which the family built in honor of their mother, Helen.
