Robert C. Fosler Obituary

Robert “Bob” Fosler, 87, of Beloit, WI, passed away at home with family and loving pet, Sophie on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Born in 1938 in Streator, IL to Casimir and Marie (Mitchell) Fosler where he attended Streator High School. He then graduated from Oklahoma State College after earning an Associate’s degree as a Draftsman.

He married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Armstrong, in 1959 and enjoyed 66 great years of love, family, and travel. After marrying, they moved to Beloit, WI where they planted deep roots and raised 4 children: Julie Long, Mark (Kay) Fosler, Lisa (William) Nyman, and Marsha (Kent) Rear.

Bob treasured and doted on his grandkids: Nicole (Brian) Chadwick, Joshua Long (Katie Kaminski), Jason (Jaclyn) Fosler, Ryan (Mandy) Fosler, Jerilyn (Nick) Johnson, Adam (Dianna) Reihl, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Voss, Jared (Lexee) Rear, and Karlyn (Tyler) VanDusen.

His family extended to his 17 great grandkids: Austin, Adalyn, Opal, Joshua, Jordyn, Blake, Everett, Gavin, Gage, Jackson, Holden, Asher, Leyton, Crosby, Ellis and 2 great grandchildren on the way.

Employed by Beloit Corporation for 39 years, initially as a draftsman, he progressed into the Engineering department where he traveled extensively starting and repairing the largest and fastest paper machines in the world.

Bob was deeply passionate about his family, community and his hobbies. He built his own home, and refurbished a number of homes across the City of Beloit. His love of the water manifested itself in the stone pond system and working miniature flour mill he built in his front yard. When he wasn’t focused on water, he loved being in the woods hunting and cutting trees for lumber and firewood. This hobby eventually resulted in him starting the Walnut Creek Hardwood business.

He was an avid gunsmith and specialized in collecting, building and repairing antique muzzle loader rifles. Other hobbies include rebuilding cars, rehabilitating wild animals, and building model rockets and airplanes. He and his son built a scale model of a 1924 Curtiss Jenny which is currently on display at the Experimental Aircraft Association Museum in Oshkosh, WI.

As projects go, the bigger it was, the better it fit his interest. His greatest project was leading a group of close friends in the preservation of the Beckman Mill. This included resurrecting the mill itself, the building of the dam, outbuildings, and fish passageway. All of which has led to Beckman Mill County Park being one of the crown jewels in the Wisconsin county park system.

He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, sister, Janice Saxton, and grandsons, Joshua Long and Adam Reihl.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital and Agrace Hospice for the help and care they provided prior to Bob’s passing.

A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI. Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
