LaNeita G. Thomas Obituary

LaNeita Gay (Ward) Thomas, born January 8, 1939, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by love.


LaNeita dedicated more than 25 years of her life to caring for others as a Recovery Room nurse at Bergan Mercy.


LaNeita is survived by her husband James of 64 years, her sons Scott (wife Judy) and Steve (wife Melissa); six cherished grandchildren; and six beloved great-grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her eldest son, Michael, her parents Cletus and Opal, her sister Beverly (husband Bill) and great grandson Seven whom she now joins in eternal rest.


A Celebration of Life with friends and family will be on November 22, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Faith Christian Church, 2201 South 132nd St.  Private family burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers LaNeita requested donations to the “Ward Nursing Scholarship” at Metro Community College.
