Wanda Sue Peerson, 89-year-old Vinita resident, passed away early Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Heartsworth House Assisted Living in Vinita. She was born on February 29, 1936, in Poteau, to Walter and Hattie (Hughes) Cupp. Wanda was a graduate of Poteau High School. On September 7, 1954, she married the love of her life Lawrence Ray Peerson, he preceded her in death in April 2018. Wanda started “Wanda’s Jigs” a fishing jig making business many years ago and she successfully sold jigs all over the U.S. She enjoyed reading her bible, mysteries and romance novels, going antique shopping, just shopping in general, doing puzzles, and going to Colorado with Lawrence fishing and camping every year. Most of all Wanda loved her family and spending time with them was her favorite thing to do. She was also a member of the Vinita Church of Christ.

Family preceding her in death include her husband Lawrence, her parents, a brother, Wesley Cupp, and a sister Edith Stark.

The family includes her son, Mark Peerson of Langley; daughter, Lori Starks and husband Ronnie of Vinita; sister Frances Lundstrom of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Justin Wright and wife Crissy, Mandy Bryant and husband Travis, Margo Belcoff and husband J. J.; great grandchildren, Zane Wright and wife Hannah, Joci and Ellee Bryant, Izzy Wright, Pierce and Harper Belcoff.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 3-5 p.m. at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.

The graveside service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, Mr. Bob Hampton will officiate.
