Mildred Ophelia “Millie” Meger, age 85, of Alma passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. She was born January 25, 1940, in Alma, the daughter of Joseph and Melva (Barnhill) Mayfield. Millie was a 1958 graduate of Alma High School and earned her teaching degree from Alma College in 1962. She worked as social studies and history teacher for Menominee High School, for 30 years, before her retirement.

Millie married Michael Meger in 1970, a blessed union of 62, until his passing in 2002. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Alma and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golfing and wintering in St. George, Utah. She loved her many beloved canine companions, especially Lacy and Echo.

Millie is survived by her sister, Marjorie Pratt of Alma; nephew Jason Mayfield and his daughter Alexandra.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael; her parents Joseph and Melva; and a brother Douglas Mayfield.

Cremation has taken place with interment to be held in Chapel Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
