Janice Y. Welch, 82, of Saint Cloud, FL, passed away suddenly on November 12, 2025. She was born on November 7, 1943, to Francis and Yvonne (Lescarbeau) Splaine in Southbridge, MA.

After graduating in 1966 from Framingham State College in Massachusetts, Janice began her teaching career. A lifelong learner, she later earned her Master’s in Education. After moving to Florida in 1982, she taught as an Elementary Resource Specialist, where she especially enjoyed working with the children who needed the most support. In 1998, she joined the County Office as an Administrative Assistant in Professional Development. One of her specialties was working with the Ashland University New Teachers Program, where she helped mentor college students as they prepared for their teaching careers. She was also deeply involved in the Kiwanis Club of Kissimmee, coordinating their scholarship program and supporting countless young people.

Outside of her professional life, Janice was an avid and gifted craftsperson, creating quilts, wreaths, stained glass pieces, and countless other handmade treasures that she joyfully shared with those she loved.

Janice faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength and resilience, including relocating her family to Florida and navigating the profound losses of her husband and son. She was a steady and dependable presence—the magnetic pole her family, friends, and colleagues counted on in difficult times. Like a vein from which gold has been drawn, she poured herself generously into others, giving fully and selflessly throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Welch, Sr.; her son, John T. Welch, Jr.; and her brothers, Gerald Splaine and Michael Splaine. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Jennifer (James) Hunter; brother, Ronald Splaine; grandson, Ty Welch; granddaughters, Libby (Robert) Morris and Mimi Hunter; and great-grandsons, Hunter and Westly Morris.

Lord, the shadows have lengthened, and evening has come for Janice. Her busy world is still, and the fever of her life is over. Dear God, she has finished the work You have given her to do. In Your mercy, grant her body a holy rest and peace at last.

The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 3–5 pm, with a reception to follow.
