Craig Mason Vann Obituary

Craig Mason Vann, born December 19, 1960, was ushered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on November 12, 2025 after courageously battling multiple health issues. Craig spent most of his life in Roxboro and was the son of Obie Mason and Ruth Robertson Vann.

Craig graduated from Person Senior High and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Services. He was positively influenced and gained a love of business from his parent’s clothing store Carney’s in downtown Roxboro. Craig genuinely enjoyed working with people and did so in a variety of businesses during his life. As a young man, he worked in tobacco warehouses in Roxboro where he built life long friendships. Craig was a funeral home owner and director, retail clothing business owner, successful insurance agent and salesman of used and new cars through various auto dealerships. His friendly personality and quick wit facilitated his business at various flea markets.

Craig was a lifelong learner and avid reader. He was gifted with an amazing memory of people, facts, history and numbers. Craig’s love of music ranged from playing drums in his younger days to genres including gospel, country and most of all Elvis Presley. Craig had a huge heart for others and his kindness continued to shine through every day. Craig was the “crazy uncle” to three nieces and three nephews who he loved greatly.

Craig is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Susan Floyd Vann; brother, James R. Vann (Laura) of Raleigh; nephews and nieces: Sarah and Walker Vann, Stacy and Nathan Floyd, Robin Thibault and Ryan Floyd, cousins, in-laws and dear friends.

A visitation will take place at 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm on November 22nd at Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will also receive visitors at their home in Roxboro.

Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 3320 US Hwy 1, Ste C, Franklinton, NC 27525, Longhurst United Methodist Church, 265 Providence Rd., Roxboro, NC 27573 or a benefactor of your choice.
