Julio Fuentes Obituary
Julio "Who" Fuentes, 78, formerly of Port Ewen, NY, passed away at his Lake Katrine home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Born on May 12, 1947, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, to Francisco and Ester (Ramos) Fuentes, Julio worked as a custodian for Micronetics and IBM and also managed properties and landscaped.
Julio was a ten-year member of the Port Ewen Fire Dept who loved fishing along River Road.
Julio also cared for horses and performed maintenance at "Smitty's Deli" in Port Ewen for his dear friend Fred Weick. It was with Fred that Julio enjoyed going to the horse racetrack.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Francisco Ramos.
Julio is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce (Kouhoupt) Fuentes, and his kids: Julio, Francisco, Kimberly and Melissa Fuentes. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends will be received at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A graveside service followed by burial at St. Remy Cemetery will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
