Eugene J. Mautino, 88, of Cheswick, PA passed away peacefully at Harmony at Harts Run with his wife by his side. Born on February 9, 1937, in Acmetonia to the late Joseph & Erminia (Annoni) Mautino, Eugene graduated in 1954 from Springdale High School. He was a dedicated Dynamo and supported Springdale sports teams, especially soccer.  He loved soccer and enjoyed going to the games of his son and grandchildren, no matter where they were being held. He was employed as a clerk at Blawnox Steel in Blawnox, worked at the Post Office for a short time and later worked for Duquesne Light in Springdale for 21 years until his retirement in 1997

Eugene served in the US Army stationed in Germany and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Verona. He also served on board the Colfax Power Plant Credit Union. For many years he was an active member and coach of Lower Valley Sports Union where he helped to foster youth soccer in the valley.  He was an active member of the Springdale-Cheswick Lions Club where he served as a past president. and enjoyed being the “Lion” for many years at parades and the annual Easter Egg Hunts, handing out candy to the children. He was also a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Springdale, where he served as an usher and a member of church council at various times. Eugene loved spending time in his garden. He took great joy in growing beautiful dahlias each year.  

Eugene is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, JoEllen (Heasley) Mautino; his children Sheryl Paul, Greg (Beth) Mautino, and Sally (Tim) Galecki; his grandchildren Kathryn (Corey) Blystone, Shelby (Nathan) Smith, Taylor, Justin, and Elizabeth Mautino, Quinn(Kayla) Galecki and Isabella Galecki; great-grandchildren Della Galecki, Lindy Blystone, Callum and Alden Smith; and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Alice (and husband Albert) Zastawniak, nephew Kenneth (and wife Cecilia) Zastawniak, sister Dolores Ewing and niece Bethann Ewing Heakins.

Friends will be received Friday November 14, 2025, from 3-7pm in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME Inc. 801 Pgh. St. where services will commence Saturday the 15th at 10am with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery.
