Hope Elaine Henry, born in Wheeling, WV on June 5, 1952, departed this world on November 12, 2025, at the age of 73. She passed away peacefully at home, encircled by the love of her family.
Hope dedicated over two decades of her life to serving others as a caregiver, eventually advancing to a managerial role at the former Country Home, a retirement and assisted living facility in Moundsville, WV. Her work was a testament to her kind heart and unwavering dedication to the well-being of others.
Beyond her professional life, Hope found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life. She had an adventurous spirit, often seeking solace and recreation in camping and traveling. Yet, perhaps nothing brought her more delight than browsing for hidden treasures at yard sales and thrift shops. Hope’s true essence shone brightest when she was surrounded by her family, friends, and her loyal canine companion, Chee Chee, who never left her side.
Her Protestant faith was the foundation of her strength and hope throughout her life. It guided her actions and provided her with a deep sense of peace and compassion that she generously shared with others.
Hope was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward L. and Alma G. (Clark) Wheeler; her son, Jeff Henry; and her sisters Shirley, Cheryl, & Kathy, and brother Charles.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted husband of nearly 55 years, Bill Henry; her children, Scott & Tara Henry, and Heather Henry; her daughter-in-law, Jackie Ellis; eight grandchildren; Karyna Hughes, Mason, Tray, Emmakalee, Kanda, Karissa, Bryer, and Kyle Henry, and great-grandchildren Waylon, Ryker, Gentry, Kaesyn, and Korbin. Hope also had several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Her life will be celebrated during visitation hours on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM, and again on Monday, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Altemeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV. A committal service will follow at 12:30 PM at Mount Calvary Cemetery Bishop's Chapel.
Hope Elaine Henry's legacy is one of love, devotion, and an unyielding zest for life. She will forever be remembered and missed by those whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness.
