Vera Jean Vandiver Logan Obituary

Vera Jean Logan, affectionately known as Jean, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 13, 1947, in Colbert County, Alabama, to Jim and Beatrice Vandiver.


Jean devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She had a remarkable gift for sewing and crafts, spending countless hours creating beautiful things for her home and loved ones. Her creative touch and caring spirit filled her home with warmth, love, and comfort. She especially enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren, leaving behind treasured keepsakes of her love and talent.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Church of Christ. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Ben Hayes. Jean will be laid to rest in Hopewell Cemetery.


Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Weyman Maurice Logan; her children, Bradley Logan (Melinda) and Derenda Logan Moore (Greg); and her cherished grandchildren, Carissa McDougal (Josh), Ashley Kennamore (Daniel), Brittney Ernst (Dave), Ryan Logan (April), Caleb Moore (Allie), and Hannah Pouncey (Logan).


She was blessed with many great-grandchildren: Logan Kennamore, Jaxtin McDougal, Adalynn McDougal, Colt Kennamore, Finley Moore, Thea Logan, Charlie Pouncey, Maddox Moore, River Moore, Fallyn Logan, Emma Ernst, and Beckett Logan.


She is also survived by her brother, Verbon Vandiver (Vera); sisters, Vadra Ayers (Hillard) and Hassie Waldrep; and several nieces and nephews.


Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Beatrice Hargis Vandiver, and her brothers, Verdell Vandiver and Jimmy Vandiver.


Jean will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
