Brian Lee Thoma, 58, of Blaine, passed away on November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 18, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brian was the son of LeRoy and Agnes (Von Lehmden) Thoma. In the sixth grade, his family moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he later graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1985. He continued his education at the University of Tulsa, earning a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in Marketing.
While working at Foley’s Department Store in Tulsa, Brian met the love of his life, Sandy Gonzales. The two married in 1994 and began building a life filled with devotion, humor, and unwavering support for one another.
Brian began his career with International Chemical Company in Tulsa before accepting a position with DeBruce Grain, which relocated Brian and Sandy to Kansas City, Missouri. They spent 15 wonderful years there raising their children before a job with CHS brought the family to the Twin Cities. Brian later joined Interoceanic Corporation, where he ultimately became the Western Regional Manager. He was deeply respected in his profession for his integrity, expertise, and meticulous attention to detail.
Family was the center of Brian’s world. He adored his wife and never missed an opportunity to spoil her, often sending flowers from his airplane seat as he took off on business trips or adding a bouquet to the grocery cart simply because he knew it would make her smile. He poured himself into his children’s lives, whether coaching Nick’s football teams or hosting legendary slumber parties for Parris and Sidney. Brian had a gift for showing up fully, not only for his family, but for anyone who ever needed a helping hand. He went above and beyond in everything he did.
He enjoyed golfing, playing guitar, fishing, caring for his lawn, and tackling home renovation projects. Brian had an eye for photography and took pride in capturing the perfect shot. He treasured family traditions, especially Christmas and birthdays and was known for making sure everyone wore the Thoma birthday hat. He was the grill master of the house, famous for his brisket, ribs, and perfectly cooked steaks. And true to form, he always made sure he had the latest and greatest tech gadget.
Brian is survived by his wife, Sandy; their children, Parris Anne (Chihiro) Gustafson, Sidney Jane Thoma, and Nicholas Lee Thoma; his father, LeRoy (Linda) Thoma; brothers, Bradley (Laura) Thoma and Bret (Jenny) Thoma; mother-in-law, Janie Gonzales; siblings-in-law, Debbie (Chet) Meyer, Linda (Jack) Thompson, Paul Gonzales, Tricia (Mike) Price, and David (Summer) Gonzales; beloved nieces and nephews; Ryan Thompson, Lindsey Adamson, Bailey Parke, Kaylee Meyer, Carson Thoma, Paul Gonzales, Blake Meyer, Ella Gonzales, Evan Gonzales, Easton Gonzales, Ezra Thompson, Greyson Thompson, Emma Shackleton, Callie Shackleton, Ezekiel Shackleton, Amelia Thoma, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
